Art Impressions Old Goat Birthday Card

Art Impressions Old Goat Birthday Card by Maria Byrd | CrafstyByrd.blogspot.com

Who's an old goat?  Well, my hubby will be!  Ha!  Ha!  Ha!  No, it's not mean, just being sweet to him I suppose (since I'm older).  When I saw Art Impressions Old Goat stamp online a few days ago... I thought it would make a perfect humorous card for a cute smart a*s like him.  😏

It was funny trying to hide the card from him since my crafting table is in the living room.  So, he'd pass each time he went to the kitchen.  After a few close calls, I finally told him to announce whenever he was about to enter the area so I could hide the card.  Well, by that time, he'd already seen the goats.  Though, he only saw the first version - the one with odd yellow foreheads.  The second try was much better especially when I varied the colors so that it didn't look like a four-headed goat.

I stamped the image on Canson Watercolor Paper with Versamark Ink and colored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush.  Then I nervously tried my first "splatter" technique.  I wasn't sure if I'd ruin the card or not, but somehow, it worked out!  I brushed a few strokes of Zig on Ranger Non-Stick Craft Sheet and then mixed it with a few drops of water using a clean paintbrush.  I lightly flicked the brush above the card.

"Welcome to the Old Goats Club" sentiment was heat embossed with Silver Ranger Super Fine Embossing Powder.  When everything was dry, I sealed it with Distress Glaze by lightly rubbing the wax-like paste all over the card.  The outer frame was cut with Lawn Cuts Stitched Rectangle Stackables.  I then adhered the sheet to a Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110 lb Cardstock cut to an A2 (4.25 x 5.5 inches when folded) size.
