Inkadinkado + Ellen Essentials: Puppy Sparkle Card

Inkadinkado Dog & Ellen Essentials Sparkle Card by Maria Byrd at

Sparkle Pup is my first attempt of creating a card specifically for challenges, unlike my first post Love You card which I made for Valentine's day.  So, this one required a bit of thought (ha ha ha)!  Ultimately, the themes of pet and sparkle stood out.  The card is super sparkly in person, but tricky to catch it on picture.

I also apologize for accidentally deleting your precious comments on my first post and this one. I was confused on "that" field... haven't quite figured out the Blogger setting and editing yet.

Last year, I bought some stamps and die cuts for making greeting cards.  Some were newly released, some old, but mostly purchased on sale, with coupons, or as discounted add-on items.  Inkadinkado Dogs stamp is one of the latter and I'm so glad to be able to use it for this project (Yeay!).  I picked the tallest pup and lightly stamped it on a glittery Core'Dinations cardstock with Ranger Frayed Burlap (brown) inkpad.  (Supply list is provided at end of post.)

Using a slightly wet small paintbrush, I dissolved the ink and lightly covered the image with water-colored hints of Altenew Coral Berry, Ranger Dried Marigold and Ranger Forest Moss.  Inktense Bark outlined the edge.  The "Sparkle" sentiment from Essentials by Ellen is heat-embossed in silver while the rest is lightly stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.  Excess ink is carefully blotted out with dry paper towel.  Sequins from 28 Lilac Lane Shaker Mix Rose Garden is glued on the eyes of the pup and around the sentiments for embellishment and extra sparkle.

Using strips of post-it pads, I masked about a quarter of an inch on the right side and water-colored it with Inktense Poppy Red.  Then, a wavy border and a few scrolls are drawn freehand (VersaMarker Watermark Pen) and heat-embossed in silver.  (Hint: Use a flashlight to see where the clear ink is.)  I did the same technique on the pup's collar to make it stand out. I love the transparency of the colors on the pup and border--you can see the glitters through them!

I would like to enter my card to the following challenges:
