Tim Holtz: Scared Silly Cat + Pumpkinhead Halloween Card

Today, I'm sharing a one layer Halloween Card I've recently made with Stampers Anonymous' Tim Holtz Pumpkinhead and Scared Silly cling stamps. Ranger Distress Oxide Inks were used with Layering Stencil Shatter to create the background while the cat and pumpkins were colored with Copic Markers.

A simple trick for masking and holding down stencils temporarily is to use Post-It Full Adhesive Notes 3x3 inches which can be found at office supply stores.  To create the maskings, the images were stamped in black dye ink on Post-it notepad and fussy cut (trimmed) as close as possible to its edges.  The maskings made it easier to plan the layout since they were repositionable.

The Scared Silly cat was the first image stamped on the Neenah Desert Storm cardstock, followed by the pumpkin below it, and then finally the last two pumpkins on either side.  After each stamping, the image was covered with masks to prevent the lines from overlapping and to create a visual perspective.

Psychedelic isn't it?
I meant to stop here for a CAS (Clean and Simple) card, but then I noticed the triangular shape near the tail and the whiskers overlapping with the vine.  So, to cover the stamping booboos, a background was added using the Stencil Shatter.  After making sure all the stamped images were covered with maskings, I blended Ranger Distress Oxides in Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, and Seedless Preserves over the stencil.

To add contrast, I masked off a middle band across the card and daubed Black Soot over the stencil making sure the pattern matched the previous ones.  I lightly misted water over the card and carefully splattered a watered down Black Soot ink.  Inkadinkado Embossing Magic Bag was then wiped over the cardstock to prevent any embossing powder from sticking on unwanted areas.  "Boo" sentiment was stamped on lower left with VersaMark Watermark Ink and heat embossed in Black Sparkle.

I would like to enter this card to the following challenges:
1. Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes (entry #572, due 10/4)
2. Addicted to Stamps and More (ATSM) Challenge #261 - Anything Goes (entry #143, due 10/3)

Thank you for stopping by and happy crafting!
